Geeqie

Geeqie

Geeqie is an GTK based image viewer for Linux. It’s basically a fork of GQview.

Geeqie has been forked from gqview project, because it was not possible to contact gqview author and the only maintainer. Geeqie projects goal is to move the development forward and also integrate the existing patches.

The interface of Geeqie is, not surprisingly, very similar to that of GQView.

Also see Review GQview.

In the left pane you have your file browser and on the right you will see your pictures.

The thing I like most about Geeqie is that it handles Raw (CR2) files very quickly and smoothly. So much quicker and better than gThumb.

The only bad thing about Geeqie I’ve noticed so far is that it doesn’t always know how to show the pictures in 100% size. I’ve noticed this in Geeqie 1.0 beta2 version.

Apart from that Geeqie is very useful and easy. It also has excellent plugins for UFraw.
